The Remembering - A Poem

I feel that I love you
But how can that be true…
We met just moments ago
Something deep within is stirring,
A cavern, held in a heart,
Not felt before
Home to an ancient stone yard, of long forgotten loss
There, a tired Raven stirs
Aching, beaten from grief
Gently, a melody on the breeze, passes through him
Caressing his feathers,
Lighting his soul
Softly, waking… from a sleep as old as time
His ancient eyes blurry,
His heart in disbelief
Raising a weary head
Toward a rising sunlight…
The melody again
Resonant and real…
He forces his body to rise,
Peeling slowly from cold stone
Lifting his weary head to hear,
Could it really be…
It is Her…
The call from another’s soul finally heard
It is Home…
Singing from a voice that only he understands
It is Now…
His body lifts, a yearning to leave, finally to return
Awakened, remembered, reached
He spreads his wings, gently, testing
His majestic power, ignited,
Renewed
A joy soaked, hollowing cry escapes him
A pining from so very long ago,
Returned…
Time to come back to me
You are found
The path now lit within two hearts,
His flight is set
Ascent
A strength unmatched, untethered and wild
The search across the ages, ended
Reunited at last…
I know I love you,
Because we met at the beginning of time
