'Through' - to the other side...

This week allowed me the most beautiful business meeting over to Hilbre Island… a truly stunning place, steeped in ancestry. From Vikings, to Monks, to Pirates, to dinosaur prints and back again! And seals too - Wonderful 💚

It’s a beautiful walk to the island from the coast, and tides play a part in making it safely to the other side. While I was there, it got me thinking about how our healing journeys are often about our desire to get to the other side as quickly as possible, but we often forget the need to ‘go through’ the process.

There’s a moment in every healing journey when we realise there simply isn’t a way around what hurts. There is only the way through it - healing never asks us to avoid the path. It gently asks us to walk it. But the way through is rarely comfortable. It asks us to meet parts of ourselves we have hidden, to sit with uncertainty, to loosen our grip on the life we thought we would have, and to trust that something new is quietly forming beneath the surface.

Getting to the other side is not about becoming someone different. It is about returning to who you were before the weight of loss, expectation, fear and survival convinced you that you had to be anything else.

The ‘other side’ isn’t a destination where life suddenly becomes easy. It is a place where your relationship with life has changed. Where the pain no longer defines you. Where your scars become part of your landscape rather than the whole of it. Where joy begins to return - not because everything is perfect, but because your heart has remembered how to receive love again.

Perhaps that is what healing really is, not escaping the darkness, but learning to walk through it with enough faith and trust to believe that the light is still waiting for you beyond it.

And when you do finally emerge on the other side, you realise something extraordinary - It wasn’t the path that changed… it was you 🤍
